Getting a referral from a GP and waiting to see an NHS Dermatologist can take6 months or more. While it may be cheaper, what is the value to you of enjoying those 6 monthsfree of embarrassing adult acnethat saps your confidence and self-esteem? At botonics, no GP referral is required and you are in charge of the pace of your Roaccutane treatment. You must not get pregnant for one month after stopping this treatment because some medicine may still be left in your body.
Very few patients within my practice and I’ve been practising for more than 23 years, have required a second or third dose of Roaccutane. That is why I don’t prescribe antibiotics for long periods of time. The problem with using antibiotics for many months, it will cause resistance, and it will change your gut flora and you don’t need any of that. Sometimes once a day with a cleanser and to use oil-free products.
Most people have clear skin at month 4 of the treatment & flares stop completely at 6 months. Throughout your programme, we remain in contact with you by telephone or email to answer any concerns or queries regarding your acne treatment. We have over 15 years’ experience providing specialised acne treatment. Prescriptions will be uploaded electronically to Cloud Rx within two business days of your video consultation. A copy of the clinic report will also be sent to you and to your GP – this is usually dispatched within 5 working days of your consultation. It is recommended you check with your insurer as to whether you would be covered before making an appointment.
Isotretinoin belongs to a group of medicines known as Retinoids which are normally used to treat skin problems. Isotretinoin capsules are used to treat severe acne, for patients whose acne has not responded to other treatments. The use of these capsules must be supervised by a dermatologist . Isotretinoin capsules should not be used to treat acne occurring before the onset of puberty.
I often find patients who come to me and say that although they have been on antibiotics for a year or two they medicine is not working. This is because they have not been prescribed any topical treatments to go along with the antibiotics. Also, patients have to understand that if they are on antibiotics for many months this can cause bacterial resistance.
Our central office books monthly consultations with the dermatologist during your acne treatment plan. At each appointment your specialist will carry out short skin examinations to monitor your progress. Your dermatologist uses the blood results to make sure you are on the right dosage regime. If you are female, she will also undertake a pregnancy test at each of your appointments. Your dermatologist will guide your dosage and treatment length. The specialist determines this based on your weight, acne severity and response throughout the programme.
It’s not a food allergy unlike some rashes that are a relation to food allergy and if you stop that food, the rash is gone. So, if your acne is worsened by chocolate and you already have acne but if you stop the chocolate, it’s unlikely that your acne will disappear. If you don’t wash your face for a week, this will not give you acne if you’re not predisposed to acne. Even in adults, they can have acne and they have a normal hormonal profile. They don’t have a polycystic ovary, have regular periods, but they have acne.
